Career & University Guidance
At Armbrae Academy, we empower students to discover their passions, navigate their futures with confidence, and become engaged, resilient leaders. Our comprehensive Career and University Guidance program is designed around the understanding that every student's path is unique. By blending structured career exploration with personalized post-secondary planning, we ensure our graduates are exceptionally well-prepared for the rigours and opportunities of university life and beyond.
Our career and post-secondary guidance model begins in Grade 9 and expands intentionally through Graduation:
Grade 9 Foundations: Guidance concepts are integrated directly across academic disciplines, helping students build self-awareness, recognize their strengths, and begin setting personal goals.
Grade 10 Career Education: Through a dedicated half-credit course, students engage with key pillars of future readiness: personal development, career awareness, workplace readiness, financial literacy, and portfolio development.
Personalized Course and Career Planning: Students work closely with our guidance team to align their high school course selections with their long-term post-secondary aspirations, ensuring they keep doors open to a wide range of future fields.
Signature Career Exploration Experiences: Students gain hands-on insight through immersive job shadowing, internships, interactive career fairs and events, and guest speaker engagements with industry professionals.
A Purposeful Journey
Navigating university admissions is a collaborative and highly personalized process at Armbrae. Our guidance team acts as mentors and advocates, offering one-on-one support to help each student find their right-fit post-secondary institution.
One-on-One Counselling: Regular advising sessions support students through university searches, application strategy, essay reviews, and scholarship opportunities.
University Visits: We host a wide array of university representatives from across Canada and around the globe throughout the academic year. These visits offer students direct access to admissions teams and insights into specific programs, co-op pathways, and campus cultures.
Experiential Insights: Students have access to mentorship, external learning opportunities, and specialized workshops, from STEM and Liberal Arts overviews to portfolio building for the arts.
Guided by our school motto to Be Kind | Work Hard, our guidance program inspires students to push through challenges, strive for balance, and step confidently into their next chapter.
