A Community of Mentors

The PSโ€“12 Advantage

One of the most unique aspects of life at Armbrae Academy is the deep connection between our Lower School students and their Upper School mentors. We believe that community is built through relationships, and our "Lower School Mentors" program brings this to life. Mentors are matched with Lower School classes and volunteer with that class for the year. They help walk their class to an assembly and  plan high-energy events like sock hops and movie nights. These bonds foster a profound sense of belonging. For our younger students, these mentors are heroes who make the big world feel safe and welcoming. For our older students, it is an opportunity to lead with heart, embodying our motto to Be Kind while serving as role models for the next generation of engaged citizens.

At Armbrae Academy, Student Life is designed to nurture the whole child, fostering connection, personal growth, active citizenship, and a vibrant sense of belonging. Guided by our school motto to Be Kind | Work Hard, our co-curricular and student life programming empowers learners to explore diverse passions, build strong relationships, and make meaningful contributions both within our walls and in the broader community.

Our Student Life model rests on four foundational pillars

ADVISORY

At the core of our relational community is the Advisory System. Building on restorative practices, advisors create a safe, nurturing space where every student is known, heard, and valued. Advisors serve as advocates, mentors, and the primary liaison between home and school, guiding regular goal-setting and helping students develop self-advocacy and independence.

Our CAS Program for Grades 6-12 offers a rich array of multi-session co-curricular activities designed to build academic, athletic, leadership, and artistic talents. Students are required to earn CAS credits across varied categories, including Academic, Arts & Society, Athletics, Leadership, Recreational, and Service, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones, take healthy risks, and develop diverse skill sets. Whether competing on an Osprey Athletics team, coding in Arduino Club, debating, or leading in the Prefect Council, CAS ensures a well-rounded and engaging student experience. Student achievements are celebrated annually through silver and gold uniform pins as well as specialized awards.

Creativity, Action, Service (CAS)

SERVICE LEARNING

Service Learning at Armbrae integrates practical learning objectives with real-world community impact. Beginning in Grade 6, students participate in structured service hours paired with formal written reflections, helping them examine their personal growth, develop empathy, and recognize their impact on society. Opportunities range from internal leadership, such as Morning Crew, Audio/Visual Crew, and peer tutoring, to community-facing projects like the Home for Dinner program at Ronald McDonald House and external volunteer work.

Inclusion & Belonging

We believe that our school is strongest when every individual is celebrated, respected, and included. Inclusion is intentionally woven throughout all aspects of student life. Dedicated student-led groups, such as Prism and the Eco Club, provide safe spaces for advocacy, open dialogue, and positive change. Furthermore, our restorative practices and collaborative student councils ensure that peer relationships are rooted in empathy, respect, and mutual support, making Armbrae a welcoming second home for every learner.
